CentralElementary School

Meet the Assistant Principal

CarolynMy name is Carolyn Headley and I am the new Assistant Principal here at Central Elementary School. I started my teaching career in New York City where I taught a range from Kindergarten to 4th grade for 9 years. This will be my tenth year in the Allentown School district. My tenure here began as Literacy/Instructional coach at Roosevelt Elementary School for six years before resuming a teaching position in 5th grade at the same school for the past three years. I assumed the AP position at Central On August 8, 2016.
My educational background starts with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Elementary Education from York College, City University of New York; a Master’s degree in Reading/Elementary Education from Brooklyn College, City University of New York. I also hold a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In addition to my degrees, I possess a certificate in Educational Supervision and Leadership from the University of Scranton, and a certificate in Teaching College from Capella University.

My greatest desire is to offer leadership that facilitates a school environment which provides differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. The educational program must be academically challenging, engage each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experience, and must also be exciting in order to promote further exploration of new ideas. Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an important role in encouraging our children to become active learners and so acquire the skills needed to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society.

Through a close and collegial partnership with everyone associated with Central Elementary School and the community, I am confident we can continue to make our school an even a better place for our students to learn and grow.
